If you haven’t been to counselling before you, may be unsure of what to expect, so here is a list of some frequently asked questions. And if the question you want to ask isn’t listed here, please contact me, and I’ll be happy to help. You can also read more about what happens in counselling in my blog: Behind the curtain – busting those counselling myths.
Where does counselling take place?
Counselling will take place online via video (Zoom), making counselling accessible to anyone anywhere in the UK.
More detailed information about online video counselling can be found here.
How long does each session last?
Sessions last 50 minutes and occur weekly at the same time and day, although this can be negotiable. Counselling tends to be more effective if attended on a weekly basis, as each session builds on the work of the previous session. Long gaps between sessions can cause a loss of momentum and can make it harder for you to progress.
How many sessions do I need?
The counselling sessions are open-ended, which means there is no maximum limit to the amount of sessions you can have, and regular reviews will take place during the course of our time together. It is worth noting that counselling can be a long process, so you need to be committed to attending regularly to achieve the full benefit from it. As a guide, it usually takes at least 6 sessions to notice any meaningful change.
What happens in each session?
